Region settings

Setting your Flipbook's region settings helps you offer your visitors a localized browsing experience.

Updated over a week ago

If you offer your Flipbooks to specific, regional, or country-specific audiences, you'll want to make sure your catalog's regional settings match.

iPaper's region settings affect small, but vital changes to the visitor experience: how certain elements are presented in your Flipbook's User Interface (UI).

๐Ÿ“– This article explains:

What is the User Interface?

The User Interface (UI) in your iPaper is what we call the various elements surrounding your Flipbook, including:

  • your clickable brand logo,

  • the Flipbook navigation arrows,

  • the buttons to various functions such as download PDF, share, and the menu,

  • the basket, and any modals or toasts that offer information to the visitor.

Finding the Region settings in iPaper

The region settings view allows you to customize 3 settings that affect the appearance of the visitor-facing iPaper interface:

  1. Language

  2. Number format

  3. Time zone

Regional settings can be applied on the account, folder, or Flipbook level. This guide shows you how to customize the settings on the folder level:
โ€‹

  1. In the organizational tree view in iPaper, right-click on your account name.
    โ€‹

  2. Select Edit default settings.
    โ€‹

  3. Click on the General tab.
    โ€‹

  4. Select Region from the left-hand, vertical menu.

Choosing your Flipbook's language settings

You can select the language of the iPaper interface from the Language drop-down menu. This will determine what language the interface surrounding your Flipbook is displayed in to your customers.

If your Flipbook is published in a specific language, e.g., Spanish, you can select for the interface to match.

๐Ÿ’ก iPaper offers regional variants for a number of languages, including:

  • Chinese (Simplified)

  • Chinese (Traditional)

  • Portuguese (Brazilian)

  • Portuguese (European)

Auto-detecting language based on IP address

If you serve your Flipbook to an audience across multiple regions/languages, you might want to allow iPaper to auto-detect the language, based on the visitor's IP address. You can do this by selecting Auto detect (IP) from the drop-down menu.

๐Ÿ‘‰ For example, when a visitor with a German IP address visits your Flipbook, iPaper will detect this automatically and serve the interface in German.

Auto-detecting language based on browser language

You may also wish to allow iPaper to automatically set the Flipbook interface language based on the visitor's browser language. You can do this by selecting Auto detect (Browser) from the drop-down menu.

๐Ÿ‘‰ For example, when a visitor from the US, using an internet browser set to French, visits your Flipbook, iPaper will detect this automatically and serve the interface in French.

Choosing the number format for your Flipbook

In the Region settings, you can also select the format in which you want to display numbers. This affects, how prices are displayed in your shop configuration as well as any conversion based statistics in iPaper.

iPaper supports two different decimal separators:

  • decimal point

  • decimal comma

You can select the number format most relevant for your audience in the drop-down menu under Number format.

Setting the time zone for your Flipbook

Having the correct time zone set for your regional publication is important! Especially so, if you use publication periods to determine when your Flipbooks are available.

๐Ÿ’ก Ensure that the publication periods align with the regional time settings specified in the Region settings to match the time zone of your audience.

The time zone you set for your Flipbook will also impact the Time of day statistic in your Flipbook's Key statistics, as this metric displays when your visitors browse your Flipbook, based on the regional time set.
