How to keep your Flipbook Enrichments safe when adding or removing pages from your PDF

Learn how to add or remove pages within an existing Flipbook, and ensure that your Enrichments remain on the correct page.

Updated yesterday

Sometimes you might need to add or remove a few pages from an existing Flipbook. This could be due to certain products in your catalog no longer being available, or if you're changing or adding any new content to an existing catalog.

When you change the order of, or number of pages in a Flipbook, it's important to make sure that any Enrichments are also properly re-ordered so that they remain in the correct place.

⚠️ When rearranging or changing anything in an active Flipbook, we recommend that you back your Flipbook up by making a copy!

How to correctly add or remove pages and move Enrichments within a Flipbook

A common misconception when moving Enrichments when changing the number of pages in your Flipbook is to do add or remove these pages from your base PDF, then move the Enrichments to their new positions afterward, like so:

This method can create errors when rerunning the Enrichment Automation. To add or remove pages from a Flipbook and move the existing Enrichments to match to the correct pages again, the process is as follows:

Back your Flipbook up

Always back your Flipbook up when making large and significant changes. To do so:

  1. Right-click on your Flipbook in the Flipbook tree view.

  2. From the drop-down menu, select Copy Flipbook.

  3. Select a location where your Flipbook will be copied.

  4. Select Copy Flipbook.

Remove the Enrichments from your Flipbook

  1. Right-click on your Flipbook in the Flipbook tree view.

  2. From the drop-down menu, select Open enrichments editor.

  3. Delete the Enrichments from any pages that are going to be removed from the Flipbook.

As you are only deleting selected Enrichments from specific pages, this process must be done manually.

Remove the pages from your Flipbook

To remove unwanted pages from your Flipbook, the process if the following:

  1. Right-click on your Flipbook in the Flipbook tree view.

  2. From the drop-down menu, select Change PDF.

  3. Select your new PDF from your Media Library, or drag and drop it into iPaper from your device.

  4. Click Change PDF. This will then process the new PDF, which has the desired pages removed.

Re-add your Enrichments

You will now need to re-add your Enrichments using your Enrichment Automation:

  1. Right-click on your Flipbook in the Flipbook tree view.

  2. From the drop-down menu, select Update enrichments.

  3. Select the correct Enrichment Automation. Leaving the top field blank, will default to the last used Enrichment Automation.

  4. Click Update enrichments. This will then remap your Enrichments in the correct places for your new page order.

How to correctly add pages and move Enrichments within a Flipbook

When adding pages to your Flipbook, the process is the same as for removing, above: remove your Enrichments first, change your PDF, then re-run your Enrichment Automation. Easy!
