Display in Flipbooks: Getting Set Up

Using Display banners in your Flipbooks gives you an extra, interactive layer to inspire, create engagement, and help shoppers convert.

Updated over 8 months ago

One of the best things about it is how easily you can set it up—you can get going in minutes! With the user-friendly drag-and-drop editor and reusable templates, it becomes easy to add one more interactive layer to your flipbooks–all without altering the original PDF.

🔰 Requirements for using Display in Flipbooks

In order to be able to use Display banners in your Flipbooks, you’ll need:

  • A Flipbook, with at least 1 Enrichment

  • A plan that includes Display, or have purchased Display as an add-on

  • All of the above has to be on the same iPaper account

Let’s get started

Setting up your first Display banner in a Flipbook is easy:

Step 1: Create a Display banner as you would normally, create a display in the display editor, and Save it.

Alternatively, you select to duplicate an existing Display.

⚠️ Please note that a single Display banner can only be used in either Flipbooks, or a website, not both at the same time. If you want to show the same Display on both, we recommend that you duplicate the Display, and select one to show on your website, and one in your Flipbook.

You can do this by clicking on the ‘…’ button on the right-hand side of your Display banner, and select Duplicate from the pop-up menu.

Step 2: Click on the cog icon ⚙️ of the Display banner you wish to use, and under the Publishing state, select Used in Flipbooks. This allows the Display banner to be used within your Flipbooks and also disable any external-facing CTAs from your Display banner.

⚠️ NOTE: Once you have saved your Display banner with the Used in Flipbooks state, this cannot be undone. You are, however, able to duplicate the Display and edit its settings.

Step 3: Once you have the Display banner ready, you’ll want to find and select the Flipbook you’re going to insert the Display banner in, under Flipbooks in the left-hand menu.

From this Flipbook overview page, click on Edit enrichments in the top right-hand corner. This opens the Enrichment Editor for your Flipbook.

Step 4: With the Enrichment Editor open and displaying the Flipbook you’ll be adding your Display banner to, you’ll want to add an enrichment that will trigger the Display banner to open.

You add this enrichment just like you would any other enrichment in your Flipbook.

Select the Enrichment you wish to use to trigger your Display banner, and place it where you want it to show in your Flipbook. In the Properties menu of the console on the right-hand side, you’ll want to configure the following fields:

  • Select an enrichment action: Here you’ll want to select ‘Open Display’

  • Select a Display: Select the Display you want to be triggered when the Enrichment is clicked.

  • You can also insert a custom Hovertext that can provide more information on what a customer can expect when they click on the Enrichment. This text appears on desktop displays, when a customer hovers their cursor over the Enrichment.
