Unfortunately an error has occurred while trying to process the PDF...

Why did this happen, and how to get around it?

Updated over a week ago

Currently, some of our users are experiencing a challenge, when attempting to process new Flipbooks, with the following message Unfortunately an error has occurred while trying to process the PDF... which looks something like this.

If you are reading this now, it might be that you are experiencing the very same challenge, and good news is our developers are working on to solve this as soon as possible, meanwhile we have a workaround which might help to get around the challenge, by flattening your PDF.

Please note that there are no guarantees this workaround will help, but it is worth a try.

What is Flattening?
Short-term solution is to Flatten the PDF before uploading it to the Platform.
When you flatten a PDF, you merge previously separated contents of your document into one. Flattening a PDF makes it so that: Interactive elements in PDF forms such as checkboxes, text boxes, radio buttons, drop-down lists are no longer fillable.

It can be achieved in multiple ways.

  • Reach out to us via chat, we will be more than happy to flatten it for you.

  • If you are an Acrobat Reader Pro version user, please follow the guide below.

1. Open the PDF in Acrobat Reader Pro

2. Click Save As

3. Make sure to select type as PostScript

You will notice that a new file with the name of your PDF will appear in the save location.

4. Click the file, and press yes in the popup dialog.

The Flatting Process will begin, and after it completes a flattened version of the PDF will appear in the same directory the Postscript file is located.

5. Now the new Flattened PDF file is ready to be used.

These are short-term solutions, as soon as our developers release a fix we will make sure to notify you. 🙏
