Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an extra layer of security for your iPaper account designed to ensure that you're the only person who can access your account, even if someone else knows your password.
📖 This article explains:
How two-factor authentication works
Think of 2FA like having two locks on your front door.
Normally, when you log in to an account, you only need one thing: your password. 2FA requires two separate, distinct forms of identification in order to provide access. Most commonly, this something else is a code sent to your phone. So, even if someone else knows your password, they still can't get into your account because they don't have the second “key”.
This is why 2FA is much safer than just using a password alone: it's like having a second lock on your front door.
You may already have an authentication solution in place in your organization. If not, some of the most popular authentication solutions are:
Enabling and setting up two-factor authentication in iPaper
Two-factor authentication is usually set up on the user level, in iPaper. This means that if one user has 2FA enabled, another user might not.
Setting up two-factor authentication is easy, but requires a few steps:
Click on the Account details menu, in the top right-hand corner.
From the drop-down menu, select My settings.
Under the vertical User settings on the left, select Login.
Under Two-factor authentication, select Set up two-factor authentication. You will then be prompted to enable 2FA, and you'll need to have the authentication app of your choice to hand.
Click on Set up using an app.
Scan the QR code displayed with your authenticator app. Alternatively, you can enter the unique code provided under the QR code into your authenticator app.
Your authenticator app will generate a one-time code, which you enter into the One-time code field.
Click Verify to complete the process.
You're all set! Every time you log in to iPaper, you will be prompted to provide the code displayed in your authenticator app, as an extra level of protection for your account.
Enabling compulsory two-factor authentication for all account users
⚠️ Forcing two-factor authentication on an account level can only be performed by account administrators.
Account administrators can ensure that every user is required to use two-factor authentication when logging in, by forcing 2FA on the account level. To enable this, read our guide on forcing 2FA, below:
