Build a Flipbook: Too many pages?

Make sections of your Flipbook into its own Flipbook!

Imagine if you could take a catalog, and collect and keep all the pages relevant to you, while discarding the rest. With traditional printed catalogs, this might require a pair of scissors and some tape, but with iPaper's Build a Flipbook, we've made sharing visitor-customized Flipbooks easy!

What is the Build a Flipbook feature?

Build a Flipbook allows your Flipbook visitors to select relevant pages in the Flipbook and in that way create a separate publication – only containing selected pages. Afterward, the user can share the customized catalog in an email, a messenger app, or on social media.

How to enable Build a Flipbook

The Build a Flipbook functionality needs to be activated before your visitors can start creating their own, customized versions of your catalog.

You'll most likely want to enable it on an individual Flipbook basis, but it can also be enabled on the folder, or even account level. This guide shows you how to enable it for a specific Flipbook:

  1. On the Flipbook for which you want to enable Build a Flipbook, right click and select Edit settings.
    ​

  2. On the Settings view, navigate to the Modules pane.
    ​

  3. From the vertical menu on the left, select Build a flipbook.
    ​

  4. Enable the feature by toggling the slider.
    ​

  5. Once the toggle turns green, Build a Flipbook is enabled. Remember to Save your changes! πŸ‘

How to use Build a Flipbook

With Build a Flipbook functionality enabled, your visitors get now create customized versions of your catalog:

  1. While browsing your Flipbook, your visitors can now select Build your own Flipbook by clicking on the burger menu in the top bar.
    ​

  2. This will open the Build a Flipbook editor, where they can select any and all pages that they wish to include in their customized version of your catalog.
    ​

  3. Any selected pages will be highlighted in the order in which they were selected.
    ​On desktop browsers, the pages will also appear in the same order in the Build a Flipbook builder pane on the left-hand side.
    ​

  4. Once your visitors have selected their pages, they can create their customized catalog by clicking Create flipbook.
    ​

  5. This will open a new modal, from which they open, or share their customized catalog.

Sharing a customized Flipbook works a little differently, depending on whether your visitors are browsing from a mobile, or desktop browser.

Sharing a customized Flipbook

Once your visitors have created their customized, Build a Flipbook catalog, they'll be presented with the opportunity to share it with others:


On desktop browsers

On desktop browsers, visitors who have created their own Flipbook will be able to copy the direct URL to their custom Flipbook by either clicking on the link displayed in the Share field, or via the Copy button.

Both automatically copy the Flipbook link to the clipboard, which they can then paste wherever they choose.

On mobile browsers

On a mobile, visitors who create a customized Flipbook will also be presented with a modal.

From here, they will be able to:

  • automatically copy the Flipbook URL to the clipboard by selecting the URL in the Share field,
    ​

  • open the Flipbook in a new tab in their browser, by selected Open new tab,
    ​

  • share the Flipbook by clicking the Share button. This will then trigger the mobile device's native sharing settings.

The channels you can select to share from, are determined by the personalized settings on the user's device.

However, making sure that your Flipbook looks good when shared in messenger apps, or on social media is crucial to attracting new visitors to your catalog. Luckily, you ensure your catalog offers a great preview by customizing its Open Graph data. See more on that here:
